Fall 2009 Men and Women Essentials
I’m noticing a lot of you layering your Spring / Summer pieces trying to keep warm. I’ll be honest, i’m guilty of the same. Its my way of trying to hold onto those warm summer days when taking an outdoor stroll was something to be enjoyed.
There is a reality check though thats hard to miss….its F*@%ing cold outside! And while winter certainly is not my cup of tea – big chunky sweaters and water proof booties make the thought a little more appealing.
So, in the spirit of winter, keeping cozy and warm all the while, upc boutique gives you our 5 essentials to look hot this Fall.
1. Oversized Cozy Sweater or Cardigan: This piece in a neutral color such as black or grey can be styled with almost anything. Skinny jeans, leggings – flats or heels you’re sure to be dressed appropriately warm while looking very stylish! Check out Iro, Sessun and and Complex Geometries for some of the more interesting takes on such a classic piece.
2. Leather: Yes my friends, leather is back and its back with a vengenance! From leather jackets, pants to leggings we’re loving the edginess it adds to any ensemble. Travis Taddeo leggings or a Velour cropped jacket are great options. For those of you that may not want to go too full on with this, simply adding leather details such as a Speech necklace will give the edginess you’re looking for.
3. Ripped, Shredded and Distressed: Jeans to sweaers to tshirts you’re bound to find a hole in something! Embrace the hole and use it as a way to show off your layering capabilities. Now you can definitely distress existing pieces in your closet but if jazzing up an old piece isn’t your thing, designers like Thomas, Iro and Chronices of Never have done the work for you.
4. Red: This color is sure to get your heart racing. For the more daring of you, check out People’s Market Red Jacket and make a statement. For those not so bold, adding red details to any of your outfits is a sure way to make yourself standout anywhere. And for you singletons out there, I’ve heard that a reserach study was done on what color attracts the most males….Im sure you can guess.
5. Menswear: Think Winona Ryder in Girl, Interrupted. If you haven’t seen the movie (you should!) we’re talking classic tailored vests, menswear front pleat pants and oxfords. Check out Sessun’s relaxed grey pant that can either be rolled up above the ankle or rolled down for a full leg look.
