Transition time?

Posted in Uncategorized by upc boutique on July 16, 2010

In this heat wave?  I can’t believe I’m even thinking like this…but as the weather just got ‘slightly’ colder last night I couldn’t help think…fall is going to be upon us soon upon.  So I started deliberating…with myself of course, which pieces would work best transitioning from summer into fall (yes this is ACTUALLY what goes on in my head when I’m left alone with my thoughts).

Cardigans have become a STAPLE in my wardrobe.  They are almost perfect for ANY season and to be quite honest they are the ultimate layer piece.

So it’s only natural that I recommend the one piece that I think every man should own…

Don’t worry ladies, the men are not the only ones getting love this post, because guess what…we have cardigans for you too.  I wrote about Disaya (Bear Necklace) a couple of weeks back so you should be familiar with her work.  With that being said, her Cardigans from this past seasons are absolutely fantastic.  I’ve been extolling the virtues of stripes so this fits in perfectly with my summer/fall wardrobe recommendations…

Heat Wave.

Honestly, I feel like every step I take lately I’m melting away.  I thought it would be fitting to recommend some options that I would characterize as ‘less is more’…

Two of my favourite options right now for the heat.

The shin printed tank is unbelievably lightweight and is PERFECT for a summer day.  It hangs off the body in the way that doesn’t absorb the heat like a fitted tank and as you can see this is a true case of less is more.

As you are aware by now I LOVE dresses (of any kind really), but because it’s so damn hot out I wanted to give you my recommendation for the perfect keep you cool dress.  Yes I know it’s black but ladies, trust me when I say this you will not REGRET wearing this on a day like today.

Q & A Time…Disaya.

Posted in Uncategorized by upc boutique on May 10, 2010

One of the best things about my job is meeting new designers.  Watching them grow, learning about their inspirations and ultimately wearing their collections :).  Its amazing to see how they evolve not only as lines but as individuals over time.  The one unfortunate thing that I have found in fashion is that not enough people learn about the creative minds behind the lines.  People for the most part are too busy to read long interviews.  As such, UPC has decided to undertake some short Q & A sessions with designers we feel you will love to get to know just a little bit better…

With that, we would like to introduce Disaya (which is readily available at UPC Boutique and a line we are proud to carry).  All you need to know are two things.  Ready to wear & Jewelry.

Q & A with Disaya:

What are the 5 things you can’t live without?

  1. My Iphone
  2. Sketchbook
  3. Creme de la Mer
  4. My organizer
  5. White wine

What makes an outfit outstanding?

Statement shoes and accessories can greatly enhance the appeal of an outfit. Such as matching a classic dress with Disaya oversized crystal robotic octopus cuff.

What turns you on creatively?

Good exhibitions, such as Studio Ghibli museum and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

What turns you off?

All the counterfeit products we see around the world

What is your favorite color?

Black

What’s your favorite midnight snack?

Japanese crackers and wine!

What is your guilty pleasure?

Anything chocolate!

Out of all of your collections, what is your favorite piece?

My favorite piece out of the whole collection is the ripped bottoms dress that has a youthfully sensual yet classic look.

What can’t you live without?

My family

What were you doing five minutes before you started filling out these questions?

Reading a bedtime story to my 3 years old daughter.

Who do you call most often each day?

My husband

Thank you Disaya.  Your responses were truly heartfelt and it was nice to find out some of the more intimate details of what goes on in such a creative mind.  Honestly, it just made me smile creating this post.  Between the pictures and answers I couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect.
